Nowadays a high Variety- and Volume Flexibility is necessary to be competitive. In this connection shorter set-up times are increasing the Overall Equipment Efficiency, reducing the work in progress (WIP) and improving the productivity. Less space requirements and a faster reaction on customer requests are further benefits. This should firstly be achieved by optimizing the process and organization and not by huge investments.
